Day 4 : Vitamin A
EAGLE : Pathetic
PROMETHEUS visibly confused : Huh ? Who is here ?
EAGLE : Who else is there ? I’m your tormentor, tasked to eat from your liver every day to eternity
PROMETHEUS : You look and sound .. different
EAGLE : Hell yeah I do.. ahem. Yes, my name is Iris Fledger, our family the Fledgers have been passing the tradition of eating your liver, developing stronger claws and sharper beaks. I’m a genzenner, but I guess you won’t understand that, chained to this old rock since millennia.
IRIS paused a little and then says : now if you excuse me, I have some duty to fulfill. I shouldn’t have talked to you in the first place. /he then murmured/ Torturers shouldn’t really be talking to their subjects anyway.
Iris then proceeded tearing up flesh left and right and plunging his beak and claws into the raw flesh. Prometheus endured the usual pain, wincing and moaning ( you get off on pain after enduring it for so long, think of it as a defense mechanism, don’t judge ) but as it goes on, Prometheus looked less and less comfortable
PROMETHEUS : Friend, aren’t you going a little too excessive down there ? Biting off more than you can chew, both literally and figuratively.
IRIS angrily as he goes harder : I’m not your friend, bud ! And besides, I don’t want anyone to lecture me about how I go on with my job, and sh-shut up man, I need to concentrate
PROMETHEUS : Are you sure you’re okay, bud ? You can talk to me, you know ? I get told that I’m a good listener, I mean I don’t have anyone to talk to and I sure have no one who I listen to, except that time when Hermes-
IRIS growing more and more annoyed by his companion endless chatter : one other word and I’ll devour your non-regenerative pancreas
Realizing that his oviparous companion was really Callisto with a sore head, he zipped his mouth
( A few moments later)
PROMETHEUS : you sure don’t wanna talk about this, bud ?
IRIS visibly irritated : FOR THE LOVE OF PAN AND ALMIGHTY ZEUS, SHUT IT UP, SHUT THE HELL UP
Deafening silence
Iris take a few seconds to regain his composure
IRIS : Sorry for earlier, I shouldn’t have disrespected you in that way, and you really don’t deserve that,.. well in a way you do, you made humans afterall.
PROMETHEUS : What happened, did a human did you any harm ? I made sure they deserved the sacred fire when I gave it to them
IRIS : You sure did give it to them he giggled then stopped ahem, I really should have taken an Xanax before I come here
IRIS after taking a deep breath humans, plural.. they really outdid themselves, caused destruction everywhere, war, poverty, pollution.. it’s really chaotic, up there, even the Gods aren’t really happy. For instance, Poseidon has been making tsunamis and earthquakes all over Gaia but to no avail, some humans just are too caught in their hubris, too unwilling to treat the “global warming”
PROMETHEUS seemingly distraught : it can’t be.. I know humans, they are my creation, my children.. they can’t be like that
IRIS : Said every parent ever about their kid teenager.. look I’m already dealing with the loss of my mother to lung cancer.. I guess factory fumes weren’t “harmless to animal life" as they dictated in their media or whatever.. makes you think how much they don’t care about any other lives, as in we, animals, trees and plants, don’t live on the same globe as they do..
PROMETHEUS after a little pause : I’m sorry for your loss, I know I’m to blame for your pain and suffering and I get why you would resent me so much
IRIS : Don’t say that, you didn’t know any better back then, it’s really just me being in the first grief stage
Prometheus then took a big breath, screamed his lungs out as he struggled to break off his chains. And as the chains finally broke for they listened to his immense torment and regret.
IRIS surprised : This is way above my pay grade
PROMETHEUS flexing and stretching : Thank you, O feathered friend. I finally realized how poor my judgement was, how naïve I was trusting humans. I always believed that Intellect would bring humankind to prosperity, I thought that would reflect more on their actions and words. How foolish am I, to put my trust in clay creatures. They smeared my name as the bringer of fire. I shouldn’t have stolen the sacred fire. I shouldn’t have suffered for them.
Prometheus' face changed into a deep look of disdain and hatred, he then waves at his friend goodbye.
PROMETHEUS : Farewell, Iris. I’ll go revoke the sacred fire and redeem myself at Mt. Olympus. I’ll see to it that Hades and Pan bring your mother and species alive, as a token of gratitude for you have opened my eyes.
Prometheus then flew at a blinding speed away from Caracas, the rock he has been unbound to.
IRIS mind blown, still unable to process what just happened : well… that checks out.
